THE COCOON

I'm encased in the cocoon of a chronic illness
Remembering the days when my body knew wellness
With each passing day physical changes take place
Trouble doing even normal things - never mind running a race!

Then the day came when my life took a turn
Hey! Wow! Cool! I can, I can learn!
Emerging from the cocoon came a butterfly-computer thing
Giving me the ability to soar, with cyber space wings!

I'm traveling, I'm adventurous and feeling such glee
Exploring! Making friends! And some - just like me!
The road is just never ending, my trips go far and wide
With thrills and excitement, with my wings I do glide

A shame that my internet discovery came so late?
Oh no! I will catch up with you all -- just you wait!
The isolation I felt is a thing of the past
Through each summer storm I'll now pray, the electricity to last!
